Getting Involved

There's a Place for You to Help and Change the Lives of Families

At Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire, volunteers are an important part of our programs — from cooking meals and providing maintenance, to teaching financial literacy and offering a safe, comforting presence as an ongoing host or childcare support. Have limited time? We have opportunities to volunteer for special fundraising events or one-time projects. You choose how and when you commit. There’s something for everyone.

“I began volunteering with Family Promise in 2002, when families stayed in local churches while working toward stability. I still remember the first family I met—a young mother with two little girls who was grateful simply to have a safe place and the opportunity to build a better life for her children.

More than 20 years and hundreds of families later, that experience continues to motivate me. I’ve seen firsthand that the Family Promise model works. It gives families facing homelessness more than a safe place to stay—it gives them support, a plan, and a path forward. That’s why I continue to volunteer: because I know my time is helping make a real difference for families in our community.”

“I met my friend Lilly when she was staying at Family Promise with her two-year-old son, Dominic. She was working hard to earn her GED, learn to drive, find a job, and create a better future for her family. Today, Lilly owns a home in Maine, has a good job and a reliable car, and has created a safe, stable home for her now 18-year-old son and her mother.

Lilly will tell you she got there through hard work—and she did. But Family Promise gave her the support and foundation she needed to move forward. Seeing what that opportunity can mean for a family is why I’ve supported Family Promise for 24 years—and why your support matters.”
